January was world carnivore month

Living healthily is constantly being discussed and promoted in the media. Weight loss programs and diets are continuously recycled and renewed. The latest up-and-coming trend is named the carnivore diet. The diet was written by Shawn Baker in his book ‘Carnivore Diet’ released in 2019 and accounts for his journey to becoming an unabating carnivore. Carnivore is used as an identifying term to indicate the lifestyle choice of a person that includes a large portion of meat in their diet and is used in the same manner as vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, etc. In a nutshell, the carnivore diet encourages people to only eat animal-based ingredients and exclude all plant-based food ingredients from the diet. This diet claims to help with weight, diabetes, depression, autoimmune disease, and rheumatoid arthritis. Dedicated followers of the carnivore diet have adapted the diet further into a more restrictive diet named the lion diet. The lion diet is said to be a healing elimination diet with all the benefits of the carnivore diet as well as improved gut health. The lion diet differentiates itself by only including food ingredients from ruminant species, salt, and water in the diet.

January was designated as world carnivore month and celebrated for the first time in 2020. The month is celebrated by committing to a 31-day meat-only eating plan.
