Once-off DNA SNP offer | Eenmalige DNA SNP-aanbod
Once-off DNA SNP offer of R290 each
Certified Wagyu Beef, with the assistance of the other LRF breed Societies is pleased to announce that it has secured a once-off special price on SNP tests. The test includes a 100K SNP, full parentage with over 200 markers and the genetic defects that includes CHS, B3, CL16, F11, and IARS. The SNP test will cost R390 and will be subsidised by CWB and the Society by R100 per test. The producer will thus pay R290. Offer available until March 2022.
In a nutshell: The special offer includes the following:
- Test your herd for CHS, B3, CL16, F11, and IARS. We currently have over 500 SNPs on the database. Most animals carry at least one of these defects leading to substantial mortality.
- Parentage testing will use more than 200 SNP’ markers making it easier to differentiate between bulls that are close relatives.
- The new parent discovery module can search through the pedigree if a match for a calf cannot be found. However, all Sires need to have a SNP on record. The special offer is thus exclusively for sires and dams (not calves) to encourage producers to move to SNP technology.
- The new SNP technology will over time allow Wagyu producers to build a reference population with phenotypes (actual data) on difficult to measure but expensive traits such as meat quality and also feed efficiency. You can request SNPs for these historical animals.
- Once a genomic evaluation is up and running, the calves can be genotyped at birth (using a tissue sample or hair card). You will then be able to make an immediate selection decision on your calves though you will be encouraged to continue sending in data.
- Only hair cards or Tissue Sample Units will be accepted. We encourage producers to send in both as per the current TSU-ear tag and special offer available for members.
- The offer ends in March 2022.
- A LRF producer SNP meeting will be held on 23 November at 18h00 pm to clarify the use of Genotype information in your herd.
- Producers must be fully paid up members
- Slegs haar kaarte of Weefsel monster eenhede sal aanvaar word.
- Produsente moet opbetaalde lede wees.
